Triskaidekaphobia?

There are just too many "theories" about Friday the 13th to even waste blog space on. Did you alter your day's activities because of the calendar page?

According to some poll group/study group what-evers, a LOT of folks do just that. They call in for work, they hole up in their homes, stay away from windows...some don't even answer their phones or doors! Businesses lose an estimated $800 million, all because of Triskaidkaphobia.

Personally, for my money, it's just another day. There isn't anything inherently 'evil' or 'wicked' or unlucky about any one day over another. Babies are born on Friday the 13th, people die on Friday the 13th....relationships begin, and end on Friday the 13th...cakes flop, bread falls, dinners burn....it's just another day.

For our day here, well, we got up late because I seemed to have an affection for the "snooze" feature of my alarm.
We got about half a gallon less milk than we've been getting (perhaps no one ever told Judy cows needn't be affected by Triskaidkaphobia? Maybe it's just 'cuz I over-slept and she was irked...).
Cotton, our female Great Pyr, decided to get itchy paws and disappear. She's back now...we searched hither and yon and then some and not a trace. We are surrounded by some 2000 acres or better of NOTHING to the south and southeast here, and given the propensity of these rural folk to shoot first and worry about checking things out later on, we figured she was a goner. She is friendly as all get out...unless you appear to be a younger dog, then she wants your head :( she's back home, head bowed and tail tucked...she knew she was in trouble. She's been fed, I had half a mind to chain her up, but that's the environment we rescued her from and it's just not how a LGD needs to live.

I didn't get any cheese made as I had planned, so that moved to tomorrow's list. I did get my laundry soap made, though. I'll stir in some orange essential oil before heading to bed.

We ran to town and picked up the PVC pipe to run water to the barn. That was interesting. Did you know that several several 20 foot PVC 1 inch pipes DO NOT fit well in a 15 passenger van? Nope. They set against the rear door, lay along the seat rails down the passenger side, and then hang out the front window....by a good 3 foot! And being so long, and just an inch diameter, they are the bounciest gosh durn things even bundled together! Made an interesting 30 mile trip, let me tell you.

Hmmm...what else today? We delivered some fresh butter to the lady at the rural store over the mountain. And tonight, a couple gallons of milk as well. I've had several people 'interested' in milk....however, they are only interested in $2 a gallon :( I'm not greedy, looking to make my fortune off anyone, but seriously....I can't buy 2% at the store for that price! And this is *fresh* milk -- nothing like the stuff at the store.
That's ok, though. If I'm to 'sell' it, I'll get folks with a bit more interest. I suppose an argument could be made that I currently have like 5 gallons...plus another 2 1/2 in the bucket to skim in the morning...and then the morning milking of some 2 gallons....and $2 ain't bad when it moves milk from my over-filled fridge to some place useful. We'll see :)

So...my day was just as 'bad' as it was 'good'. Probably more toward the 'good' side of things really. Did the calendar page have anything to do with all the various happenings of the day? No...it was just another day here. Nothing so very out of the ordinary -- we are usually far from 'ordinary' around here, but this was close :) Will tomorrow be any better now that the evil surrounding Friday the 13th has passed (or will in a few hours)? Well, let's hope tomorrow is a better day....every day we wake up should be a 'better' day than the ones before it! That's what LIFE is all about :)
So....whatever you made out of today, go forth and make tomorrow BETTER!

Here are some 'thoughts' about the Friday the 13th mojo issues to ponder --
::::In numerology, the number twelve is considered the number of completeness, as reflected in the twelve months of the year, twelve signs of the zodiac, twelve hours of the clock, twelve tribes of Israel, twelve Apostles of Jesus, twelve gods of Olympus, etc., whereas the number thirteen was considered irregular, transgressing this completeness. There is also a superstition, thought by some to derive from the Last Supper or a Norse myth, that having thirteen people seated at a table will result in the death of one of the diners.
Friday has been considered an unlucky day at least since the 14th century's The Canterbury Tales, and many other professions have regarded Friday as an unlucky day to undertake journeys or begin new projects. Black Friday has been associated with stock market crashes and other disasters since the 1800s.
It has also been suggested that Friday has been considered an unlucky day because, according to Christian scripture and tradition, Jesus was crucified on a Friday.
One theory suggested by OJ Ivey states that Jesus dies on a Friday and there were 13 people at the last supper.::::

I'm heading to bed...I won't brush my hair out before I lie down(makes you forgetful you know); I won't let that black cat of ours walk in front of me on my way to the bedroom; I won't get into bed from the foot; and I'll be sure to say my prayers...out loud, fully enunciating every word and keeping my eyes closed. Shoot, I may even bless the four corners of my bed as well as my room....

I'm just covering all the possible bases....

I get the milk thing. I don't have milk but I do have eggs. Farm Fresh, free range eggs. Askin 2bucks for them. One lady thought that was too high of a price, she can get eggs from walmart for 1.29, she would pay 1 dollar for them! I told her go ahead, get those eggs from a hen that is feed chemicals and sits in a cage 24/7/365. i found other buyers and I lost some hens so I'm doing ok with eggs. No longer overrun with them.

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
