Ok, some good from the weekend...

Our refrigerator is getting colder.  Apparently cleaning it out in, out and under did the trick.  It has taken most of the day, but we have coldness in the lower levels of the fridge now.  Woo-hoo!!

And, Christopher might be starting work with Dewey again...and getting himself back on some sort of common sense track  I mean, jobs are jobs these days, and any is as good as another, but ditching electrical work to go for a career at Dollar Tree...hello...
He will be moving back here...if you can call it that.  He'll be in Little Rock working, and home every couple weekends.  Not exactly "living" here.  Still, he won't have bills, he'll be back in school, and he'll have better income.  Sounds like a good move to me.

We updated (such as it is) at the homeschool blog.  We are dragging towards the end of Christopher Columbus with our Paths of Exploration units.  Time to get it over with and move on to Jamestown.  It isn't that it's boring, really, it's just...well, boring, I guess.  Probably because we've read about Columbus several times already, although different books and such, but really...Columbus is Columbus...how much of him can you study and not go buggy?

And we are making some of the crafts we've found...especially the watercolor paints...

And we are staying INDOORS with yet another week of killer heat here. I'm working on a baby blanket in the Tunisian Stitch, and we have lots of reading to keep us occupied inside.  Oh...and via Netflix, we have goofy Gilligan's Island to watch.  The children get a kick out of that show...even the youngers caught on pretty quick that they were on a "3 hour cruise" and seem to have brought an awful lot of clothing...and KatiAnne wants to know how come the Professor can create so many things from trees and leaves but he can't build a decent boat. Silly, time-wasting, television for overly hot days.

Hope the heat lets up for you soon! You also might want to check Hulu (www.hulu.com) for some older tv shows (Donna Reed, Flipper, etc.) My kids love them.

My kids love Gilligans Island too. We like Netflix, we can run it through the Wii and download movies to watch without waiting for the dvd to arrive. We've watched lots of old movies and classics & don't have to worry about the contents too much. So glad your fridge is recovering & glad someones son is showing common sense. Thats lacking with some of ours sometimes! Have a great HOT week!
