...Or Little Picnic in The Small Woods...
We brought the table, some chairs, a blanket, our handwork and books to read. We'll eat an early supper out here, too. We're behind the goat pasture, in the big clearing along our trail to the pond -- where the dogs are playing, but we aren't. Saw a snake out there this week and haven't killed him yet. 'Nuf said there.
We started tilling a bit back here, but it's equally as thick clay mucky as the rest of the place, so we decided with the gorgeous weather and plenty of sunshine, light breezes and few insects to be an issue, we'd have a picnic day instead. The older girls are putting together tuna sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs, peaches and some homemade root beer.
Did I tell you about that root beer extract?? I just happened to see the bottles of it at WalMart during our big stock up. They are maybe 1.5 or 2 oz, not real big, and they were in the section with all the Zattaran's stuff...crab boil, fish fry stuff, seasonings and what-not. Little brown bottles with yellow labels. We don't use club soda or anything, just plain water, so it's not carbonated, but still delicious :o). And something new. The whole bottle will make 5 gallons. Can't remember the cost, but it wasn't more than just $2. I'll certainly be getting some more!
Back to a quiet day in the clearing :o). Well...the chickens are rather noisy, but aside from that it's fairly quiet :o)
