Saturdays...

Dewey and Matthew are out purging and organizing the workshop. We brought his band saw and cement mixer back with us and it needs a home in the building.

Johanna has been making some baked doughnut muffins (I'll add the recipe to the kitchen blog this week) and starting bread.

Jennifer and the youngers are attacking bedroom clutter and purging quite a bit. I've decided that we just won't make a spread in House Beautiful anytime soon :o( We *live* -- completely, totally, 150% -- in this house and on this land. Trust me, we don't look like an abandoned homestead here. We are lived in.

Me, I'm sewing. Well, I've steamed my fingers several times already with the iron anyway. I had 3 aprons prepped for myself and they needed finished. Might even get to the cape dress I cut a while back. I tend to put all the other sewing needs ahead of what I need. Well, I really need at least one dress for fall/winter. Honestly, 3 would be great, but I'll settle for one :o). Then I'll start cutting pants for the boys, starting with Matthew. Poor boy looks like he's the little Dutch boy walking up to the leaking dyke! Worst part is, he doesn't really mind much. I like seeing contentment in my children, but flood pants are something else :o)

We are trying to dry a few things on the line -- it's been the week of the dryer it seems and I don't like that at all. We have started what appears to be our rainy season already -- scattered, some storms, daily -- and that's early. Usually we don't get daily rains until October. I'm beginning to wonder if everyone we've talked to isn't right and we are in for a real taste of winter and cold this year. Not that we don't need it, that's for sure, but still...I'd feel more comfortable with another cord of wood stacked out there, even if this is Mississippi.

We'll get it done. I'd actually love a cold winter here. I'm dying to get the cookstove fired up and put back to daily use. I still have to make the perfect loaf bread in it :o)
