Outdoor Homeschool Day.... (The missing post from a week ago...)

We've been taking a few trips to check out parks and hiking trails in and around our area. When the weather isn't so miserably humid and hot, we nature hike. Today, being rather humid, mid-90s, and little to no breeze, we are just schoolin' at an area park and campground. The lake is beautiful, and so quiet being a weekday. We have an entire shelter to ourselves, probably the entire park area to ourselves.  Sweet.

We have some boring school stuff...like textbook math...and then it's reading, butterflies, and our downloaded copy of the Handbook of Nature Study.

I've been a bit burnt out on school this summer. We've had too many stalls, too much family drama, etc. Our Medieval Age finished up and we still had some readers and lap books to work (told you when I started planning I was stashing away too much fun!), so we went ahead and skipped the planned summer term with readers like Robinson Crusoe, Swiss Family Robinson, Little Women, Wind in the Willows, Island of the Blue Dolphins, etc and went on to just work a couple more readers and lap books.

Now, the plan was to begin our regular Term 1 several weeks ago, but alas...the whole family drama and LIFE in general sort of kicked back our first day a couple weeks. Three, to be more precise.  But onward we go. And it isn't that we didn't start on time, we just didn't get into the full schedule on time. That's the perks of homeschooling though...we may not always start at A, but we always ~eventually~ get around to Z. I'm sure we can still catch up and follow along the already mapped out school plan for the year.

And if we fall behind now and again because of all these great outdoor homeschool days....are we really that concerned???

That is a great idea...getting away from the home for a break, and to school outside. Hope you have a blessed school year!!
