Wasn't it gorgeous today? It sure was here! Started off rainy and gray, but the sun broke through late morning and it was beautiful out.
We're getting a routine going with milking by hand. From what Jennifer and I can tell (which may or may not be much...), the Surge is working fine, perhaps a little sluggish, but well enough. Judy takes forever to milk out, though. She's staying hard as a rock for a long time on the machine and just isn't in the groove she was in. I've noticed her not letting the milk down as readily when hand-milking, too. Not sure what's in her mind...she seems normal otherwise, not attitudes, nothing different, etc.
Our routine is coming together, and after she eats her grain ration, she starts to loosen up and milks very well. And I'm getting my groove finally....only took me 45 mins tonight instead of the well-over an hour it's been taking :) Laugh if you want....maybe it's just me, but milking the goats is waaaayyy different than milking a cow.
I'm even getting a bit less strained in the hands when milking, and that alone is worth getting excited over, trust me! If my hand troubles is arthritis, my so-called "golden years" are going to be down-right miserable :(
After school this morning we decided to enjoy the day and we headed out for a walk. We went thru the property and across the neighboring land, and up the mountain a bit. We kept to the 4-wheeler paths so it was a bit more open (snakes, you know!). We'll definitely make another walk day, maybe tomorrow. We won't have many beautiful days like this...you know, gorgeous weather, a bit of a breeze even, and the hunters aren't out waiting to shoot at everything that moves...like us :)

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

Stay away from snakes...they are all deadly, they cause heart attacks. Take a walk with an orange sweater or vest on! Probably a hat or bonnet with antlers attached is not a good idea! (Boy, I am in a weird mood this morning...maybe its the temp change)
