Not Done, but Done Enough

First -- "round" hay bales that weigh around 1100 lb. DO NOT ROLL as readily as one might believe they would.

Second -- when they DO finally roll, they bust the hitch clean up off the ball of the tractor and pop the trailer up.

Third -- when that happens, they actually roll MUCH BETTER than one might believe.

We've been out in the barn and pasture all morning, Jennifer, Matthew, Abigail and KatiAnne and I. We cleaned/mucked out all the stalls on the goat's portion of barn, we cleared branches and limbs from their immediate pasture area too.

We clipped the fence and pulled it back over the gate posts to refasten it, then brought a cattle panel from out front and cut it to size for the new gate. I think it needs some wood along the top and bottom to stabilize it yet, but it's good enough for now...and until a MAN gets here.

We pitched one entire round bale into loose hay in the barn and fenced it up from the goats who were intent on getting as much of it as they could.

The other bales fought us tooth and nail getting set out on pallets, but they are finally, and tarped over from goats and dogs too. I unhooked the trailer and got it set back up, and we really need to use the tractor to hook up to the pallets and drag them to a more 'off the pasture road' permanent location, but if they never get moved, my life will still roll along as complete as ever. I'm easy to please. I'm just a Volkswagon Bug...I quit being a Ferrari a lot of years ago :)

I am fully convinced I'm actually dead, just ain't been buried yet. My arms and wrists are screaming at me from deep inside, my head has never throbbed so much and my legs...trust me, my muscles gave out hours ago and no one else around here has had the energy to just dig the hole and roll me in.

Tomorrow we need to empty the center of the barn. Why is it the center is the always the quick go-to storage section? And how is it it fills up so thickly with assorted JUNK and no one really notices until it well packed??? We have to empty it and get to the chicken coop -- time to empty it down to wood and give the nesting boxes a good cleaning. They will love the new hay bedding :)

The way the gate is set up so we can actually fence along its line over across the pasture and thus section it off. That will come in a few weeks yet, fencing ain't the cheapest thing :) after that is done, we will rip up the ground a bit, clear/pull the brush and young trees and hand seed the area for next year. We'll extend the chickens outside area so it can be seeded with mustard and the ground cleansed as well.

If we hold out without rain, mowing will need done again this week, too. But for right now, I just want the tube of Voltaren for my arms and an 800mg Ibuprofen because the extra-strength Tylenol might as well of been a Skittle for all the good its done :(

I wonder if I could crush up a bottle of tablets and soak in a tub of warm water...would they absorb through my skin cells you think???
