Oh yeah, that little red box...

LOL...didn't take long at all for folks to figure out what went on, or who was invloved.

Gee, what does that say about my family here?

Yes...at the school building where we held grandma's 90th birthday gathering, Jacob (with David and Emily tagging along) found a fire alarm and made a great deal of noise. For about 15 minutes. Very loud, those things. And the worst part -- we had a long talk and explanation about how, in a nutshell, if it's hanging on the wall we aren't allowed to touch it, pull it, push it or in any way connect with it.

Obviously I explained too much...or maybe I explained too little?

Luckily, my cousin works with the small town fire department, and called to let them know it wasn't anything serious or worth donning fire gear and calling in the volunteer masses for.

We waited outside for their arrival. I was sort of hoping for some "fear of God" talking from the fire folk who arrived to reset the alarms and such, but no...they thought it was funny. So much for help there.

The party was great -- the alarm was set off long before anyone showed up, aside from a couple of us there to set up the tables and get the food prepared. Everyone had a great time, we enjoyed a ton of good food, and Grandma though tired out from doing her meet & greet thing, held out and enjoyed the day as well.

The small town of Leaf River, Illinois has plenty to talk about after our visit now...a bright, sunny Sunday morning awakening by the school's fire alarm system, and a monster-long, stretch limo driving through town :o) Maybe we'll make the local newspaper :o) Wild Weekend Fun as Young Amish Boy Sets Off Fire Alarm....

Memories.... :-)

Glad you all still had a good time regardless! That's what matters after all.

God Bless!
