Work-shy will be 'pushed' into working for free by welfare revolution - Telegraph

::::People who do not try hard enough to find a job will be forced to work for free or lose their benefits, the Government will announce this week.

In the most radical clampdown on the work-shy yet, Iain Duncan Smith will announce that the unemployed will be found compulsory 30 hour-a-week work placements and if they fail to turn up they will lose their Jobseekers' Allowance for at least three months. ::::

Yeah, I expect the drones to get their knickers in a bunch and send me nasty grams with my LOUD AND LARGE BRAVO!!! on this news.

Can we get this going over here? Not the Charles Dicken's style work-houses of old, of course (though some would probably get a lot more out of those)....but simply if you've lived off the government dime a reasonable amount of time and still cannot locate work in or even out of your field, let the State put you to work and earn off your time for a while. It builds back up the system. It reminds folks what honest work is, how it feels to know you have earned what you've been given.

And with unemployment benefits running out for so many Americans....and the numbers of families soaking up State assistance year after year....

Yes, *of course* there are those who have a serious need. I'm not talking about them, I'm talking about the flat out lazy sops who have no desire to work for their food or their toys and expect someone else to flip the buck on everything they want or need. Some folks, thru circumstances not of their own, have to do what they have to do.

But there are many more who soak up the free ride year after year because they simply don't want to work. They pigeon-hole their job searches, then can't find work (the work they are 'willing' to do) and cry they need to support their families.

Face it, if you've lived off government pennies for a few years, you should get back some self respect and get a job. Yes, unemployment is high. Yes, jobs are hard to find, especially good ones you can get a decent wage, decent hours and a few benefits at. Suck it up. Change your field of vision and don't pigeon-hole your preferences. Find what you can....WalMart, KMart, fast food, grocery store work, sales clerk....and if that doesn't pay the bills, get a second or third job. You won't break. Folks do it all the time. Some of those 'career students' carry a full course load *and* work a couple part-time jobs. It's called LIFE.

And if you aren't willing to work that way, learn to live on much less and go back to an agrarian lifestyle...want to eat? Plant and tend a garden, keep a few chickens in the back yard, raise a pig or two.

If they'd institute the new run of work-houses over here in the USA, maybe folks would wake up and realize they aren't somehow 'deserving' or 'entitled' just because....

Life doesn't adjust FOR you...it adjusts BECAUSE of you.

(And for the record, no, I don't think that with the greed and corruption in the government here, instituting a work-house plan would be a good thing. I'm just arguing...debating...the merits of forcing folks to earn their way in life instead of being spoon-fed at the expense of those who do earn their way. I am definitely *not* a proponent of anything "more" on the government's side. But living off unemployment or other benefits as a long-term lifestlye....you deserve the government being in your business and reap what you sow. Me, I prefer to fly under the radar as long as I can.)
