Well, with the first frozen pipes *under* the enclosed and sealed mobile home this morning, I thought I'd check it out. Hmm...yeah...it's cold. Forecast, for what that's worth here in the land of climate change daily, is shaping up to be about 32-34 daytime temps and 15-18 night temps through Wednesday. I didn't bother to look beyond that. That's enough knowledge I think.
So, thawed pipes and running water now...we discovered something else. As I went to put the homemade danish in the oven, I noticed it just wasn't coming out of preheat. No biggie...it's cold. Ok, I popped the omelet into the oven instead.
Nearly an hour...AN HOUR...later, it's still saying preheating. Not good for eating breakfast in a timely manner.
We pulled the large pan of wet omelet out of the oven bare-handed :o( My bottom element, you know, the actual BAKE element, wasn't working. It's shot. Well, of course it is. Range is paid for, repairs are our problem now, not some warranty.
Must have put it over the edge with all those cookies over the holidays.
Problem #2 for the day? Well, try finding an appliance and parts shop opened here in the hinterlands on a holiday weekend. Not gonna happen. We're hoping for Scrugg's or maybe Lowe's/Home Depot to have one thatlooks like our whacked out W shape here.
Meanwhile, the omelet cooked in it's pan in the large Nesco...the roast is taking up residence there now. The danishes? They are in the cookstove. I didn't go for the roast in there for a couple of reasons...one, I tend to have issues with it drying terribly and cooking too fast, oven or cooktop. My skill level just hasn't made it there yet.
And two? Well, the roast is one of my big 12 pounders and the only pan it fits in, with barely room for carrots, taters and onions, won't even halfway fit in this particular cookstove oven.
But hey -- it's not frozen in here anymore. With the woodstove, the cookstove *and* the big Nesco, it feels like the Tropics :o)

It's always something, isn't it? Last night I was wondering what it would be like to get through a day with no hitches. I'll let you know if we have one.
Hey we have been there before. I will never forget it. Pipes frozen, 4 kids, power off, all on Christmas day several years ago. I feel for you. What is a Nesco?

At least you had backup when your oven went out. That is always a blessing.
I am glad your pipes are unfrozen. Thankfully I have never had that happen before, but once in a while it will dip into the low 20's / upper teens and I worry that our pipes will freeze. So far they haven't, praise the LORD.
