So, the pencil geeks with their Cheerios medical degree have decided that uncontrolled low pulse rate, continually high bp, even with meds, and shortness of breath with his regular daily activities...let alone exertion on some level...is not medically warranted in terms of testing.
We'll hang onto that referral from the real doctors, and the treatment courses they suggested, and this little denial slip for recommended medical testing.
And when he's doing a typical day's work pulling wire for a run or something equally monotonous, and Lord forbid, drops over with a stroke or worse, I know exactly who to collect from.
GRRRR!!!!

Heaven forbid. Meanwhile, save every slip of paper and take notes on every phone call, etc. Keep a log. Have you had the doctor's office call the insurance company back? Ain't it a trip? I'm so sorry you are having this trouble.

That's awful! But I have to say not surprising...it's ridiculous...Praying for Dewey's health.

Do not give up on this. Have your Dr. call and force the insurance company to accept his/her recommendation.
My DH suffered a stroke last Februrary (he is 51) due to uncontrolled BP. He has unusual symptoms, so the Dr's all told him to diet and exercise. He had a heart attack in 2007, followed by a stroke in 2009. He has recovered, PTL, but still has a myriad of other problems (discovered after spending one week in ICU).
Our Dr. has pushed the insurance company several times. He has told us that if insurance says no, he will work on them to make sure they understand what is required (even writing the report differently). I wouldn't let anyone cheat you from getting the attention you need.
Keep pushing...do not roll over and let your DH have a stroke! As a child of two parents who had stroke (one medium size and one major -- serious permanent disability), you do not want to even go there!!
