yes...Ahhh, but to continue the melodramatic mode...
yes, people in other countries have no a/c and live just fine. One difference is they have always lived without it. Their bodies/systems are far more adjusted/acclimated.
Move those folks out of their climate, though...take someone who has lived in say Africa, their entire life, and place them in Alaska, and they will suffer terribly.
By the same token, take that deep northern climate family and place them in a sub-tropic climate and they, too, will suffer just the same. Their neighbors, being natives, will fare much better from not only an emotional standpoint, but a physical one as well.

We had very little heat of this sort back north, and nothing of this level of humidity. When it occurred (and it was rare over the past 40+ years) it was extremely short-lived. I am not native to 108+ temps with 75% or higher humidity for months on end. And when they make special efforts to tell even the natives that the heat/humidity is dangerously high...well, it's not just me having the hard time.
Now place me in a blizzard or ice storm, I'm good to go. I know how to adequately/comfortable stay warm, how to dress for the conditions, how to heat/cook without electricity, etc. I have adaptive skills for intense cold, even long term.
But drench me in this boiling air, and I'm not just discontent, I'm physically ill. I cannot maintain even a small level of comfort :(

No, of course my happiness isn't connected to the condition of my a/c, but it's pretty close all considered.

DeannaAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02315996496008524220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2947580832429520795.post-85469633547130971742010-06-29T19:05:20.324-05:002010-06-29T19:05:20.324-05:00I guess now we will find out if your happiness is ...I guess now we will find out if your happiness is based on the condition of the AC or if it is based on other things, eh?
I have to remind myself that in many countries they are happy and they have no AC.Plainlady's Ponderingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09526327124561246570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2947580832429520795.post-36519644949718226982010-06-28T21:06:52.698-05:002010-06-28T21:06:52.698-05:00You crack me up. I know what you mean about this ...You crack me up. I know what you mean about this sweltering heat. It is about to kill us. I have so much stuff coming in from the garden and it is so hot to be picking and so forth. We will make it though, we always do.Trixihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17196019426959996853noreply@blogger.com
