No flaming from me. I just hope to get back on a farm soon so my daughter can get a taste of the real life. I don't know how you get it all done, but power to you!FRUGAL DAYCARE MOMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12749071509460304546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2947580832429520795.post-16194286717839337902009-08-08T11:06:29.030-05:002009-08-08T11:06:29.030-05:00Face it, Deanna. Reading is ...Face it, Deanna. You're loved.

Reading is wonderful isn't it? I used to teach (though I wasn't a traditional teacher particularly -- I always felt like the kids got the short end of the stick, and I got out early and cashed in my retirement!), but it was still a real transition from the classroom to home. I had to put the "home" before the "school," you know what I mean. I finally threw out most of the "comprehension exercises, etc." in favor of reading for the pure joy of it. I remembered hating all that stuff (book reports, yitch!) when I was in school, but I read all hours of the day and night for the joy of it and got so much more from that than the stuff with all the questions and vocab lists, etc. So I finally took the dive and let my son do what I would have loved when I was in school. He devours books, and he knows what he has read because he has been able to eat the book instead of look for the "right" answers. I told him that the authors wrote the books to be read, not dissected in projects.

Having a whole houseful of kids to school at one time requires some management I didn't have to deal with, certainly. I know you can't allow yours to read all night if they want. The goats would never forgive you!!!

Have a great weekend! If not, don't worry about what everyone thinks, they are not their living your life knowing what goes on, all they have is a small peek into a window of what is going on in your homestead. Still working on my post with my schedule and such, hope to post it later today.

SaraNaturally Blessed Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15374570019873246461noreply@blogger.com
